Teachers: Ever give 15 minutes for 5 questions, but some dawdle till 12:00 and "just didn't have enough tiiiiime"?
This hustle timer can help them see how behind they are.
Give time GENEROUSLY to accommodate different learners. If problems actually take 30 seconds each, give 2 minutes or so.
Walk around to monitor, and direct students' attention to the timer individually: "Uh-oh, look up there! No pencil and you're supposed to be on problem 2. Catch up!"
Identify your students who are anxious, already work hard but need extra time to process, and/or have time accommodations. After you start the timer, draw a star on their paper, and say "This star means the timer does NOT apply to you."
